Job Search Doesn’t Start After You Graduate

Employers today expect a new graduate to be ready to perform when they enter the office. The last four years has been a trial run for the job world. Hopefully your education has taught you about finding and processing information, making sound decisions, solid communication skills and the ability to start and finish projects.

Take the 3 Objective Approach

1). Build your personal attributes.

Leadership, communication and teamwork are demonstrated by participation in school organizations, activities or sports. Most schools have more activities than participants. You will find that pursuing a personal interests may actually build lifetime relationships.

2). Focus on your school work.

The objective determination of your educational performance is your GPA. You should focus on boosting your GPA particularly if you are on the low side of cut off metrics. With the large number of graduates, employers cut off consideration for hiring new graduates at certain GPAs.

3). Get Real Life Experience.

If you are not currently working, you should be actively seeking a Winter or Spring internship. Not only are they valuable experience and look good on a resume, but often, they turn into job opportunities. Your school or college should have resources to help you. Otherwise, take the initiative and pursue internships directly. You may also have access to internships through family or friends. Just ask!
